At Home With Skye: My Sincerely Fall Tree πŸŽƒπŸ©·πŸ©΅πŸ’œπŸ§‘πŸŽ„

One colorful ribbon, three handmade pumpkins, five cans of spray paint,

and a whole lot of fall magic.

Well, here she is. πŸŽƒ

My Sincerely Fall Tree!

And if you've been following along with my Sincerely Fall mini-series, you already know this tree has been quite the little project.

What started with one ribbon turned into handmade pumpkins, spray-painted greenery, coordinating velvet ribbons, a few more painted pumpkins (because apparently three weren't enough πŸ˜‚), and an entire colorful fall moment in my home.

And I love every bit of it.

One of my favorite things about decorating is taking something that inspires me and figuring out how to bring that vision to life.

Sometimes that means finding the perfect supplies.

Sometimes that means making something completely from scratch.

And sometimes it means buying something beautiful and immediately deciding to spray paint it.

Welcome back to At Home With Skye. πŸ’š

Today, I'm sharing the story behind my Sincerely Fall tree, the details that went into creating it, and all the supplies I used along the way.

And yes, I've included shopping links and a little discount code for you at the end!

The Ribbon That Started It All πŸŽ€

Let's talk about the inspiration.

Because this entire tree started with one ribbon from Reliant.

The moment I saw it, I fell in love with the colorful pumpkin design.

Hot pink, light pink, lavender, teal, orange, and those beautiful gold details.

It was everything I wanted for fall.

Colorful.

Playful.

A little unexpected.

And most importantly, it felt like me.

I've never been someone who believes fall decorating has to be limited to traditional autumn colors. Don't get me wrong, I love a beautiful classic fall moment, but there's something about taking a season and putting your own personality into it.

And this ribbon gave me the perfect opportunity to do exactly that.

But I didn't want to simply find decorations that coordinated with the ribbon.

I wanted to bring the actual design to life.

Which is how I ended up making pumpkins.

Lots of pumpkins. πŸ˜‚

Making the Pumpkins From the Ribbon Come to Life πŸŽƒ

This might be my favorite detail of the entire tree.

If you read my earlier post, How I Made the Fabric Pumpkins for My Fall Tree, you already know that I decided to recreate the pumpkins featured on the Reliant ribbon.

And when I say recreate, I mean as closely as I could possibly handmake them.

I specifically chose the fabric and cording to duplicate the original design.

I wasn't adding embellishments or changing the look to make it my own.

I wanted the pumpkins from the ribbon to exist in real life.

Same colorful sections.

Same overall design.

Same beautiful gold detailing.

Just in a three-dimensional, handmade version.

And while they're obviously not manufactured replicas, I made them as identical as I possibly could.

Going Bigger for the Tree

The pumpkins I shared in my original tutorial were just the beginning.

For this tree, I decided to make one larger versions:

  • Two 10-inch pumpkins

  • One 16-inch pumpkin

Yes, a SIXTEEN-INCH fabric pumpkin.

Because sometimes you just need a really big pumpkin in your tree. πŸ˜‚
I actually only ended up using 1-10 inch handmade pumpkin and 1-16” handmade pumpkin!

I followed the same general construction process from my original tutorial, adjusting the size to create these larger statement pieces.

I wanted them to be substantial enough to stand out among the branches, ribbons, and sprays.

And I love that they're handmade specifically for this tree.

If you'd like to make your own, I shared the original process in Part Two of this mini-series.

Starting With a Blank Canvas 🀍

Before we get into all the colorful details, let's talk about the tree itself.

For this project, I chose a 7.5-foot, non-flocked white Christmas tree.

With so many bright colors happening, I wanted a base that would allow them to stand out.

And I love the way colorful decorations look against white branches.

The tree itself doesn't have to compete with everything else. It gives the ribbon, pumpkins, and sprays room to shine.

The Ficus Leaves That Got a Colorful Makeover 🌿

Okay, now we're getting into one of my favorite little DIY projects within this project.

Because these ficus leaves got quite the makeover.

I ordered two different ficus spray bundles from Burlap & Bling Decor:

  • Ficus Spray Pink Bundle

  • Ficus Spray Lavender Bundle

Each bundle contains 12 individual sprays.

And while I loved the leaves themselves, I had a very specific color palette in mind.

So naturally, I decided to paint them.

Why I Chose the Ficus Leaves

I liked the look of the leaves and wanted to incorporate them throughout the tree.

But I also wanted to repeat the five colors from my inspiration ribbon in more than just the pumpkins and velvet ribbons.

The ficus leaves gave me another way to do that.

And instead of trying to find the same leaves in every single color, I could customize them myself.

The Color Transformation

Using Rust-Oleum spray paint, I transformed selected ficus leaves to coordinate with my Sincerely Fall color palette.

And to be clear, this wasn't about adding texture or changing the shape of the leaves.

I already loved the product.

I just wanted to change the color.

That's it!

Sometimes the easiest way to get exactly what you're envisioning is to work with something you already like and make a small change.

Or, in my case, five colorful changes. πŸ˜‚

The Exact Spray Paint Colors I Used

I used Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover in these five shades:

Color Name Finish

Orange Real Orange Gloss

Lavender French Lilac Satin

Light pink Sweet Pea Satin

Hot pink Magenta Satin

Teal Vintage Teal Satin

I chose these shades to coordinate with the colors in the Reliant ribbon.

And because I know some of you will want the exact colors, I'm including individual shopping links! You can find them at the end of the blog ;)

If you're recreating this project, check that your spray paint is suitable for the decorative material, test a small area first, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for ventilation, application, and drying.

And Then I Painted More Pumpkins 🎨

Because clearly, the handmade pumpkins weren't enough.

I needed more pumpkin vibes.

I also ordered a pack of 4-inch decorative pumpkins from Amazon.

And I painted them individually in the same five colors.

Hot pink.

Light pink.

Lavender.

Teal.

Orange.

Each little pumpkin got its own color, and I love the idea of having those smaller pops of color throughout the tree.

The oversized handmade pumpkins recreate the actual design on the ribbon.

These smaller pumpkins are a simpler way to repeat the colors.

And together, they bring even more of that colorful fall feeling into the tree.

Let's Talk About the Ribbon πŸŽ€

Now, you didn't think I was going to decorate an entire tree with just one ribbon, did you?

Of course not. πŸ˜‚

The Reliant ribbon was the inspiration, but I also selected five coordinating velvet ribbons to bring each color into the tree individually.

My Velvet Ribbon Lineup

Color Width Brand

Orange 2.5 in Vickerman

Lavender 1 inch Vickerman

Teal 1 inch Vickerman

Hot pink 1 inch D. Stevens

Light pink 1 inch D. Stevens

I chose the velvets because I wanted solid ribbons that coordinated with the patterned Reliant ribbon.

The orange velvet is wider at 2.5 inches, while the other four are all 1-inch ribbons.

And together, they gave me all five colors I wanted to incorporate.

How I Brought the Ribbon Into the Tree

I used the velvets to complete my bow, and let the star of the show cascade throughout the tree.

I felt the Reliant pumpkin ribbon needed its own stand-alone showcase, so I gave it just that!

The Colorful Sprays That Completed the Look ✨

Of course, the ficus leaves weren't the only sprays I used.

I also selected several other colorful sprays from Burlap & Bling Decor to work with the ribbon and pumpkins.

And each one brought a little something different to the tree.

23" Glitter Maidenhair Fern Spray β€” Iridescent Pink

I chose this beautiful iridescent pink fern spray to bring another soft pink element into the design.

I love the delicate shape and how it contrasts with some of the bolder decorations.

31" Glitter/Mini Bead/Fishline Spray β€” Iridescent Lavender

Lavender is such an important part of this color palette, and I wanted to repeat it throughout the tree.

This spray gave me another way to bring that color into the design.

31" Glitter/Mini Bead/Fishline Spray β€” Iridescent Light Blue

I also selected the iridescent light blue version.

Although my inspiration ribbon features teal, I liked having this lighter blue option alongside the other colors.

24" Glittered Cluster Berry Spike β€” Hot Pink

And obviously, I needed some hot pink!

This berry spike brings another strong pop of color into the tree.

17" Glitter EVA Eucalyptus Pick β€” Gold

Gold is another important part of this design.

It's featured in the original Reliant ribbon and in the cording on my handmade pumpkins.

I wanted to repeat those gold details throughout the tree, so I chose this glittered eucalyptus pick.

Orange Glitter Paper Grass Spray

This spray is from my stash, I used it last year in my very first Halloween tree! It can be VERY difficult to find orange sprays after July, so I recommend always shopping orange EARLY so you don’t miss out!

Putting My Sincerely Fall Tree Together 🌳

Now for the fun part.

Actually putting everything together!

After all the planning, painting, crafting, and collecting supplies, it was finally time to see how everything worked together.

One Ribbon, a Whole Lot of Color, and a Tree That Feels Like Me πŸ‚

And there she is.

My Sincerely Fall tree πŸ₯Ή

What I love most about this project is that everything started with one little piece of inspiration.

A Reliant ribbon with colorful pumpkins.

From there, I made oversized fabric versions of those pumpkins, found five coordinating velvet ribbons, transformed ficus leaves with spray paint, painted smaller pumpkins, and brought in sprays and other details to tie it all together.

Some pieces were purchased.

Some were handmade.

Some got a colorful makeover.

But every part of the process was about bringing that original vision to life.

And I think that's what makes decorating your own home so special.

You get to decide what feels right for you.

Your favorite colors don't have to change just because the season does.

And if you want a bright pink, purple, teal, and orange fall tree in your living room?

Make the tree.

Life's too short for boring pumpkins. πŸ˜‚πŸ’š
